So I've been on a huge watercolor kick for several months now - a "kick" thats turned into a way of life... so much so that I'm redoing my entire illustration portfolio.... but that's a story for another day.
In between illustration pieces of characters, animals, places and the like, I've been playing. I've been creating tiny pieces of abstract art with my watercolors - colorful, washy, blendy (is that a word?) playful sweet little gestures of creativity. Some with geometric lines added to them, some focusing on the interaction of the paint and water and brush, all bursting with color. I call it my Beautiful Mess series, and I've put many of them up for sale in my re-vamped etsy shop.
It feels so good to make these tiny pieces, most which are 5x7 or smaller. Its fun and freeing to just put brush to paper, without planning too much what will come out.
These are just a few I've created so far, there are more in my shop, and I'm making new ones all the time. I'm selling the original paintings, not prints. I like the idea of selling original art - it feels so much more valuable to me (but not in a high-price kind of way... these are inexpensive), and you just don't get the emotion from these without the original.
